Dear everyone,

Soon , we will celebrate the end of the year, but we are now proud to send you our first newsletter.

Since its launch, this new web site has been quite successful ( read the guestbook )and you will see some new changes in the coming year 2006.

Since we closed for the winter last november, the replacement of the slate roof started, and will continue for the next four years.
This difficult and costly operation has to be realised every hundred years. The last operation was done under the Sommier family in 1885.
The first phase of this work will be done on the north east facade of the chateau.
It will be an opportunity for our visitors to see an impressive work done by specialised craftmen some 90 feet above the ground. You will also discover all you need to know about slates and the art of covering roofs such as the one of Vaux.

Work on the roof

However, works on the roof does not mean that the chateau will be closed: You will discover in our next newsletter a rich programm of events and animations for 2006.

So stay tuned, and in the name of all the team of the chateau, I would like to thank you for your faithfulness and support and I wish you a happy Christmas and a very joyful year 2006!
