This year, the Château invites its visitors to participate in the great pursuit of the “Chicketeers”. Participants will win chocolate eggs through a giant treasure hunt resulting in an Easter egg hunt; while numerous activities and workshops for adults and children will take place in the French formal gardens and the Château.

A visit to Vaux-le-Vicomte at Christmas promises to be a magical moment where time stands still, in an enchanting castle straight out of your favourite childhood fairytales. An enchanted forest in the Grand Salon, crackling log fires, illuminations in the gardens and a real Saint Nicholas round off a perfect day!
Children are king
During October holidays (October 19 to November 2), every children visiting the château were offered to wear a period costume for FREE! The lucky youngsters had the choice of the role that were theirs during the visit (princesses and mousquetaires) In the courtyard, children discovered several sheep, ponies and a donkey, and participated in the “Draw me a sheep” workshop.
Candlelit Evening – every Saturday evening, from May 7 to October 1
It is an institution, an unmissable event, and one of the most beautiful highlights at Vaux-le-Vicomte, which was the first château to offer evening tours by candlight. Don’t miss the chance to experience this unique and authentic event. Every Saturday evening of the season, nearly two thousand candles light up the rooms of the château and the paths of the garden, making for an intimate and superbly romantic visit.
European Heritage Days – September 17 and 18, 2016
On September 17 and 18, for the 2016’s European Heritage Days around the theme “Patrimony and citizenship”, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte offered to its visitors an encounter with the employees and craftsman that work for the preservation and brightness of the estate, largest private estate listed as a Historic Monument in France. A dialogue punctuated by anecdotes and surprising discoveries.
A Grand Siècle luncheon, June 26, 2016
A family residence, but also the setting for many grand balls at the time of Fouquet, Vaux-le-Vicomte invited you to don your best ballgown and join the lunch on the lawn in the style of the Grand Siècle on Sunday, June 26. The picnic, a feast for the eyes as costumes and accessories vie for supreme elegance, was followed by a fashion show under the discerning eyes of the jury, who awarded the most beautiful costume at the end of the day. A really special day to exchange views and full of good humour to celebrate with family or friends, in the most beautiful setting of the garden.
“New lights on Charles Le Brun”, May 28 at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. As part of a partnership with the Louvre Lens Museum (which will hold a large-scale exhibition on Charles Le Brun from May 18 to August 29), the château is lending six works from its collections, and co-organising a symposium. Presided over by Michel Laclotte, Pierre Rosenberg, Bénédicte Gady and Olivier Bonfait, this will explore, over three days, the personality and the work of the painter responsible for the decorations at Vaux-le-Vicomte. Accessible to everyone, these exceptional events will bring together passionate people from far and wide, French and international specialists, giving top billing to students.
